Mortuary Trolleys for Obese Patients

In August 2005 the Friends were asked to provide two mortuary trolleys for deceased obese patients. Our Committee were in two minds whether we should purchase these trolleys. Meanwhile Chase Farm Friends went ahead and purchased two trolleys for Chase Farm. When the first trolley was delivered it was found to be too large to fit in the hospital lifts. Several months later it was agreed by the mortuary staff that one of the trolleys was suitable for Chase Farm but they needed a larger body tray. The second trolley was not needed and the Chase Friends offered it to the Friends at Barnet. We accepted on condition that we paid for any modifications or additions required for both trolleys. Seventeen months later the order for the modifications / additions was placed at a cost of £1,184 and the trolley is now in use.
